buildingSMART International will hold its first summit dedicated to openBIM in Marrakesh, Morocco, from 1-3 October

The Present and Future: Enhancing openBIM Workflows will connect global professionals with experts in Morocco and neighboring countries.

Attendees will discover how standards and services such as IFC 4.3, IDS, Validation Service and bsDD are making a real difference to the built environment.

The formal approval and publishing of standards and services such as IFC 4.3 and IDS have evolved the industry, providing access to a wealth of openBIM workflows, buildingSMART International said.

These advancements are bringing tangible benefits to end users, fostering clarity, confidence and consistency.

They also demonstrate how openBIM is instrumental in achieving sustainability goals and enhancing productivity in the sector.

The summit will provide an opportunity to delve into the practical applications of the latest standards and services, reaffirming the importance of openBIM

CIB W78 & openBIM Awards

In another first, the buildingSMART International Summit will be organized and take place in conjunction with the CIB W78 conference.

This longstanding event is one of the largest and most active working commissions of the International Council for Research & Innovation in Building & Construction (CIB) focuses on IT in construction.

It brings together top international researchers to focus on IT innovations and challenges for the industry, and draws a vibrant academic community that encourages graduate students to join in and ensure their impact in the field.

All buildingSMART and CIB W78 sessions will be open to all in-person attendees.

The event will conclude with a celebratory dinner to host the openBIM Awards ceremony and CIB W78’s presentation of the Charles M Eastman Top PhD Paper Award.

The openBIM Awards program covers five categories:

  1. Sustainability Excellence.
  2. RoI and Business Value.
  3. Project Delivery Excellence.
  4. Operational Excellence.
  5. Research Excellence.
