The project aims to deploy Digital Product Passports (DPPs) to support the circular economy within construction

It is part of the CIRPASS-2 initiative, which will showcase functioning Digital Product Passports (DPPs) through 13 circular pilot deployments.

The construction pilot project, led by Cobuilder, focuses on improving information exchange and collaboration throughout the product lifecycle using the DPP and interoperable open standards.

It aims to demonstrate the use of DPPs to manage construction product data effectively. This will include specific use cases, highlighting the benefits of DPPs for both made-to-order and made-to-stock products. QR codes will be implemented to link physical products with their DPPs. Moreover, a standardised data model will be established to ensure semantic interoperability and efficient data sharing.

Digitalisation and sustainability in construction

The project will focus on the sector’s digitalisation and sustainability, aligning with the revised Construction Products Regulation (CPR) and the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR).

Additionally, the pilot will encompass non-regulatory information critical to the industry, such as sustainability certifications (BREEAM, DGNB).

All DPP information will reference common open industry standards and the entire set up of the data model will be organised within a designated environment known as a “data dictionary.”

Consortium partners include GS1 France, Soprema, Velux and others.

“We are proud to contribute to this innovative initiative by the European Commission and provide our expertise in data management,” said Lars Christian Fredenlund, CEO of Cobuilder.

“By leveraging the Digital Product Passports, we aim to enhance transparency, improve information exchange and support circular economy. This project is a testament to Cobuilder‘s commitment to innovation and collaboration in the construction industry.”
