The buildingSMART International openBIM Awards Programme has launched its call for entries from around the world.

The annual awards showcase outstanding achievements in leveraging openBIM methodologies.

OpenBIM is a vendor-neutral process that supports digital transformation through open standards, quality benchmarks and long-term interoperability to enhance collaboration.

The openBIM Awards Programme covers five categories:

1. Sustainability Excellence

  • Demonstrating how openBIM has achieved better social, environmental and economic outcomes.

2. RoI and Business Value

  • Quantifying the direct benefits and impacts of standards and services in real-world projects.

3. Project Delivery Excellence

  • Design using openBIM: Projects demonstrating excellence during the design phase.
  • Construction using openBIM: Outstanding achievements in the construction phase.
  • Handover using openBIM: Excellence in dataset handover during project close-out.

4. Operational Excellence

  • Asset management using openBIM: Effective lifecycle information management.
  • Facilities management: Data-driven excellence, from real estate planning to emergency preparedness.

5. Research Excellence

  • Professional research using openBIM: Industry and academic research driving innovation.
  • Student research using openBIM: Student-led explorations shaping the future.
