Trimble has unveiled the 2025 version of Tekla Structural Designer, its structural analysis and 3D design software for multi-material buildings, along with its automated civil and structural analysis calculation software Tekla Tedds

Tekla Structural Designer 2025 and Tekla Tedds 2025 help create connected workflows to facilitate design collaboration between various software solutions like Trimble SketchUp, Autodesk Revit and Tekla Structures.

These integrations are designed to allow structural engineers to reuse information and share and analyze models more efficiently to enhance the engineer’s productivity and accuracy.

Connected ecosystems for confidence in workflows

Models created in Trimble SketchUp can now serve as reference models within Tekla Structural Designer, further strengthening the architect-to-structural engineer collaborative workflow.

In addition, Trimble enhanced the integration of Tekla Structural Designer with Autodesk Revit, allowing for a smooth bidirectional transition of models between Revit and Tekla Structural Designer.

The Tekla Structural Designer Integrator for Revit 2025 includes improved connectivity rules, additional profile families for the UK and USA markets, and enhanced analytical model creation for more accurate and connected models.

Design-to-detail workflow

Through an enhanced connected workflow between Tekla Structures and Tekla Structural Designer, BIM modelers and structural engineers can share model information for the analysis of steel structures. This reduces errors in the design process and facilitates a comprehensive design-to-detail workflow to improve collaboration between architects and engineers.

Tekla Structural Designer 2025 also features an easier way for mapping user-defined attributes (UDA) between Tekla Structural Designer and Tekla Structures, which includes data on critical design values under fire conditions, to address the growing importance of fire safety in structural design.

Improved integration with IDEA StatiCa structural analysis software further streamlines the connection design process, facilitating detailed connection design within the Tekla environment.

David Sanderson, product manager, Tekla Structural Designer and Tekla Tedds at Trimble, said: “The enhancements in the 2025 versions of Tekla Structural Designer and Tekla Tedds streamline the design process by bridging the worlds of architecture and engineering, supporting teamwork around shared design data while ensuring maximum productivity.”

Design solutions: Podium structures made easier

To provide a comprehensive design solution for podium structures in North America, the masonry design in Tekla Structural Designer 2025 has been further enhanced. Utilizing a unique finite element approach for designing masonry walls, this update now includes wall edge releases and improved reinforcement handling, making it even easier for engineers to design masonry structures.

AI-powered Trimble Assistant for Tekla

The new AI-powered Trimble Assistant for Tekla is available as a web app in Tekla User Assistance. It provides accurate and concise answers to users’ questions on Tekla products — Tekla Structures, Tekla Structural Designer, Tekla Tedds or Tekla PowerFab — by using the Tekla User Assistance knowledge base.
